Tamminga Music offers a fully comprehensive music program with top quality instruction and year-round performance and scholarship opportunities.

Comprehensive Music Program (taught by expert teachers who know how to teach)

AT TMS, it’s more than just music lessons. It’s about life lessons and making a positive impact on every student. First and foremost, we seek to nurture your child’s love of music, build confidence and challenge students to reach their potential. As students progress to the intermediate and advanced levels, we work with them to set goals and create a specially formed plan to help achieve them. Through this approach, our students flourish, grow and achieve great things, many (beginner-advanced) winning local, state and international awards and recognition.

Whether the goal is to take lessons for leisure and learn your favorite songs, develop skills to excel in an audition or win a competition/scholarship, we have a place for you!

  • Highly qualified teachers who make learning fun
  • Well-rounded music education with an emphasis on theory and proper technique
  • Year-round performance opportunities (participation optional)
  • Competition and scholarship opportunities (all ages and levels)
  • …And more!

Program Format

The school year program consists of two semesters: Fall (August-December) and Spring (January-May). The summer session is separate and runs June-July.

Classes are a great introduction to an instrument. We offer beginning and continuing classes for guitar, violin, viola and voice. After one semester, students move on to Continuing classes or semi-private lessons unless the instructor suggests an additional semester of the beginner class.

Any class with less than four students will turn into a 30 minute semi-private group lesson at no additional cost.

Inclement Weather

In the event of inclement weather, check out our home page to see if lessons/classes are cancelled before you head out. If there is no notice posted on the website, please plan on the regular schedule. If we must cancel lessons/classes, a make up class will be scheduled.

Make Up Lessons & Refund Policy

We abide by a no refund policy. No refunds or credit will be given for missed lessons. Students receive one make up class each semester for emergency situations. Notice must be emailed at least 24 hours before the lesson. Although this policy is in place, we try to be as flexible as we can. A month’s notice is preferred, but any family may give us advance notice and be on our make up list. There is no guarantee that we can provide a make up, but many times, we are able to accommodate make up requests for vacations or important school functions. No make up will be given for no shows and last minute cancellations.

Withdrawal Policy

There is a $50 fee for withdrawals if written notice is received before the semester/school year begins. We abide by a no refund policy after lessons begin. (Please see “Make Up & Refund Policy above.)

Full tuition or payment arrangements must be made before student starts in our program. Tuition will be prorated for students who register after classes/lessons begin. TMS accepts year-round enrollment.

Many families choose to pay annual/semester tuition in full but we also provide a convenient equal monthly payment plan for those who need it. To enroll in the monthly payment plan, a credit card is required on file for automatic payments. Tuition is due by the 1st of each month. There is a $30 late fee for payments received after the 5th. Please note: Although TMS offers a payment plan, our program is not a month-to-month program. If monthly payments are chosen, you are committing to pay full tuition in equal monthly payments for the term you choose on the registration form.
